I am a journalism and law school graduate based in Washington, D.C.

     I grew up in snowy Rochester, N.Y., and graduated from Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.  Degree in hand, I traveled to Jerusalem (my first trip overseas) for a reporting internship with the Associated Press.  Back in the United States, I joined Federal Computer Week, a technology trade magazine.  After an initial stint as a copy editor, I shifted to a reporting position, writing news and feature articles for FCW’s print and online platforms.  I moved on to Georgetown University, where I wrote for the university’s faculty and staff newspaper and alumni magazines, drafted press releases, and produced other communications products.  While there, I earned a J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.

     After a grueling summer studying for and taking the bar exam, I joined Wiley Rein LLP, a large Washington law firm.  At Wiley Rein, in addition to preparing legal memoranda, briefs, and pleadings, my writing duties included developing case reports and producing client newsletter content.  I moved into public service with a federal agency, where I served as an attorney addressing legal issues related to grants, procurement, appropriations, and other issues.  During my time in federal government, I’ve written grant appeal decisions, drafted policy and guidance documents, created the legal office’s newsletter, and even wrote a podcast script.  In between stints with the federal government, I also worked as a legal reporter with Bloomberg Law, where I wrote about legal and policy issues involving biotechnology and life sciences.
